IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Hidetada Yamagishi is currently back home in Japan after his 10-week incarceration in the United States. He was charged with six felony counts of steroid possession and distribution and three misdeameanor counts. Yamagishi retained celebrity attorney Shawn Chapman Holley who had all felony charges dismissed; Hide pleaded guilty to only a single misdemeanor charge involving the possession of Viagra without a valid prescription.

However, the misdemeanor conviction was sufficient cause to revoke Hide's O-1 travel visa granted to foreign athletes who have extraordinary ability and have received international acclaim and recognition in their respective sport. Hidetada was freed from jail on probation and time served; however, he was immediately taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Naturalization officials and placed in the Federal Correctional Institute at San Pedro, California while he awaited an appearance before the immigration court.

Yamagishi retained immigration attorney Ms. Montserrat Miller, Esq. from the law firm Greenberg Traurig. The immigration court gave him the option of remaining incarcerated while he fought the revocation of his O-1 visa or he could voluntarily return to Japan. Upon the advice of Ms. Miller, Hidetada Yamagishi chose the latter option.

Flexonline outlines the options that Hidetada Yamagishi now faces while he is home in Japan:

Now, Yamagishi must choose whether he wants to fight the revocation of his visa from Japan or apply for re-entry to the United States. IF he chooses to contest the revocation and loses, Yamagishi faces a five-year ban where he will not, under any circumstances, be allowed to enter the United States. However, if Yamagishi elects to apply for a re-entry visa and is approved, it is likely that he would be allowed back in the country within the next few months.

Hide war bei Bodybuilding Weekly.

Hide beschreibt erneut wie alles abgelaufen ist und zeigt sich einsichtig und bemüht für die Zukunft.
Hide entschuldigt sich außerdem über seine Fehler die er begangen hat und ist froh das ihm gezeigt wurden ist, das er Fehler begangen hat.

Hidetada Yamagishi made his first public comments since his recent run-in with the California legal system Pro Bodybuilding Weekly on Monday. Yamagishi, who was originally detained at Los Angeles International Airport on December 8 and charged with nine counts of possession of controlled substances, spent 61 days in the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic, California. Eventually, all but one of the charges were dismissed and Yamagishi was allowed to return to his home country of Japan after having his visa revoked.

Yamagishi is currently back in Japan and is reapplying for entry to the United States. He hopes to compete in the Pro Bodybuilding Weekly Championships in Tampa, Florida on August 9, 2008.
