Yesterday I was invited by Peter Thorne to come meet Norbert Wallauch the IPF President at their World Championships in Miami. There was no real reason for our visit except Peter Thorne thought it would a good gesture for the sport in general for us to meet. After spending a couple of hours with Norbert it was obvious that we share many of the same points of view, and we both love powerlifting. We discussed many issues pro/con that concern us about the sports directon. I spent a few hours watching the 242 class lift, and was very impressed with a these Russian lifters who were easily deadlifting 800+!! I would love to see some of these guys lift in the Arnold Classic!! Maybe one day they will get a chance. On my drive home I thought to myself once again something I was uncertain about at first, turned out to be an enjoyable experience. Similar to when I met Dave Jeffries,Rich Peters,Bill Deporter,and Nick Busick to discuss the Unified Nationals. I will always be APF/WPC/WPO for life!! But I now know that getting to know each other is far more beneficial to the sport, instead of critizing/bashing each other. Norbert is was a pleasure to meet you yesterday!!
