NEW DELHI: Arnold Schwarzenegger, aka Arnold Strong, Arnie and more recently, Governator, will be visiting India from the 11th to the 16th of November.
Sources in the US Embassy confirmed that he would be travelling to India in winter. It is learnt that he is to visit Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
The visit is aimed at building political goodwill and being a Republican, could also be an attempt to sweeten the discord over the Indo-US nuclear deal.
Seen as reasonably close to India's IT industry in the US, Schwarzenegger is expected to spend time with IT heads during his visit, apart from political and social events. Interaction with Bollywood is also on the cards. Arnold, 60, is an Austrian-born American body builder, actor, businessman, politician and is currently serving as the 38th governor of California.
His visit to India is expected to be nothing short of a state visit. Arnold remembers his police chief dad as being a rather strict man. In fact, in an interview to Fortune magazine in 2004, Arnold admitted to facing child abuse at the hands of his father.
The 'Governator' served for one year in the Austrian army in 1965. In 1967, he went on to become the youngest Mr Universe ever at the age of 20. When Arnold moved to the US in 1968, he had a title under his belt and spoke very little English.
Arnold's body building career was tapped by movie directors in the 70s and 80s, the golden era of action films. At that point, Arnold was pitted against Sylvester Stallone.
As an actor, Arnie is best known for his role as the Terminator - the lead character of James Cameron's blockbuster sci-fi film. Arnold has acted in nearly 34 films, the other well known ones being Hercules, True Lies, Junior, Jingle All The Way and The Kid and I. The Governator has admitted to using anabolic steroids while they were legal.
Arnold sued German doctor Willie Heepe, who predicted an early death for him, based on a possible link between steroid usage and heart trouble. Arnold pocketed $US 12,000 in a case he won against the doctor.
Arnold was noticed as a Republican during the 1998 presidential election, when he accompanied then vice president George H W Bush as a campaign rally. Attacking the Democrats, Arnie asked the crowd,"They all look like a bunch of girlie men, right?"
This muscle man studied at the University of Wisconsin and is also a Golden Globe winner. As California's governor, his most notable accomplishment includes a bipartisan agreement to reduce California's green house emissions, increasing minimum wage and lowering state unemployment.
He is seen as California's most effective marketing tool and has made restoring health and fitness a top priority. Arnold also has a passion for helping kids. He and his wife Maria Shriver, have four of their own.
Arnold is also the first to buy a Hummer manufactured for civilian use in 1992. He has had his share of accidents and bad publicity and broke his right femur while skiing.
He twice crashed motorcycles on public highways and in 1997 had a replacement of a heart valve.
Da ich im Moment zeitlich gesehen sher unterdruck stehe habe ich leider keine Zeit den Text zu überzetzen. Falls ich heute Nacht noch die Muse dazu finden sollte werde ich es mit freude übersetzen.
MfG Steven
